His First Bible

So, Porter can read really well!! This has sort of been the requirement for purchasing his first Bible (outside of the ones we read at bedtime).

Yesterday, we had gone to the bookstore for Wayne, and off the cuff, I mentioned that since he can read now, we need to start thinking about what Bible he would want. Porter's eyes lite up! We went to the aisle where the kids Bibles are located, and he just stood there, in awe of all the choices.

Eventually, he pulled one off the shelf, and with bright eyes, said, this is it! I opened it up, and sure enough, it was perfect for him. No too babish, not too grown-up for my 6 year old. Lots of fun facts, and activities to do together.

Originally, we had told him we would get it for him for Easter, but, the look in his eyes was one of "please..."

He even asked if he could get his name on it. When the lady at the checkout told us it would be ready the following day, he kind of looked like his heart sunk. And, this morning, the first thing he told me after breakfast, was "Make sure you get my Bible today."

He is excited about reading it.
He is excited about the mysteries that are written in the Bible.
He is eager.
And, I am taken back by his childlike faith....that there is something in The Book of all Books that he wants and is excited about discovering....Jesus!

Wow!
