April 6th was our 7 year anniversary. My sweet mom came into town and watched the kids so that we could have a date. We ended up just walking around Market Street (seems like that is what we always do when we are on a date...mostly because it is close enough that we are happy, and far enough away that we can't hear anyone cry).
Anyway, while we were walking around, we ended up sitting down and watching kids play in the fountains. Mind you, this was enjoyable for us because we were not responsible for any of them. It was a beautiful day. We sat there talking, and I asked Wayne what his favorite memory of the last 7 years was (not counting kids), and he said our trip to San Antonio before the babies were born. I agreed with him. It was so relaxing. We took a nap everyday, and enjoyed not doing any dishes for once. I think that we both knew it was our last hurrah. We were soaking up every minute of it because we knew that our lives were about to change considerably...not for the worse or anything like that, but, just change. Harder, more challenging, not a lot of rest, and not a lot of time for each other. Boy were we right.
While we were sitting there talking, I also asked him what his worst memory of the last 7 years, and his response was similar, but, different. A couple of months after we got married, we decided to try and catch the hot air balloon ride that we never caught on our honeymoon. So....if you haven't caught the gist, we took a trip to New Hampshire in November to go on a Hot Air Balloon Ride. We were so excited. When we arrived at our hotel...it was a DUMP with a capital D. The first room that we opened the door to...someone else was sitting on the bed. The second room that we went to smelled like smoke...bad..and I am usually not that picky. Finally, we got a room, and called the guy that had the balloon. He said that he would call us in the morning if it was going to take off. We were a little puzzled. We had just flown across the USA to take this balloon ride...why in the world would it not take off.
So, you probably can tell by my sarcasim that the phone never rang, and we were stuck in the middle of no where....totally bumbed, and mad at this guy who probably didn't even own a balloon.
This was Wayne worst memory of our marriage....boy..would we give anything to be stuck in the middle of no where with nothing to do these days.....
I bet in 7 more years, we will long for kids climbing up our legs, and begging us to play Pirates and Super Hero's....
